Greg Davis

Today was a great day. We were able to spend our last day in the Day Boarding School. Our YMAD youth were amazing on this expedition. We were able to teach these young girls more English than any other year. The YMAD youth were having conversations with the girls that were 7 and 8 sentences long. It was so inspiring to see the excitement when two people that care for each other could express it to each other. We had an opportunity to learn about the girl’s families. They could tell us their parents’ names in full sentences. They were able to tell us how many brother and sisters they have. They would tell us how they were doing and the name of the village that they lived in. It was great. It gave the young girls confidence in their ability to learn English. I realized right before our trip that these young girls need be able to understand and speak English for them to receive their higher education. The best schools and education in India are all taught in English. It was not always easy for the youth to explain some of the things to the young girls. They really learned to not give up. The determination payed off in the end when the young girls would smile because she understood what was being taught. I am so proud of the YMAD youth. Every parent should know that they have great children that came here to make a difference. I can tell you that it has been a huge success for the YMAD kids and for the girls in the schools. I know that the youth have given their whole hearts in their projects. They have come to India after a year of preparation and now we are starting to wrap the expedition up. We sang our last song to the girls and there was not a dry eye in the room. I know that everyone was leaving a part of their heart with these little girls. It will be a moment in our lives that we will never forget. Everyone was trying to be tough but the tears kept on flowing. These little girl clinged onto the youth and would wrap their arms around the necks of our youth. It was tough when we had to finally say good bye. I know that the Youth Made a Difference!!!
